Proposed changes to Barclays' employing entities in the UK - What you need to know We look forward to welcoming you to Barclays, but first we want to make you aware of a proposed change. Barclays is proposing some changes to its employing entities - the companies that employ people within Barclays' organisation structure. The proposed changes will require the majority of UK employees to transfer to a different employing entity. The proposed transfers will support Barclays' organisational structure and will help Barclays meet its requirements under Structural Reform and UK ring-fencing legislation.
If the proposed transfers go ahead, the employing entity on your employment contract with Barclays may change on 1 September 2017. Any proposed transfers will be carried out in accordance with TUPE (Transfer of Undertakings - Protection of Employment) regulations, which safeguard employees' rights at the time of transfer. In other words, a change of employing entity will not affect your terms and conditions, reporting line or place of work. We do not intend to issue new employment contracts to employees whose employing entity will change; however, you will receive a notification letter confirming your new employing entity, if applicable.
Your line manager will be able to provide you with more information when you join Barclays. In the meantime, you can read about Barclays' new business structure. In certain other countries (e.g. Lithuania; certain regulated hires in the UK; and for hires at BA4 grade and below in South Africa), we complete all screening checks in advance. They include ID and Legal Right to Work checks, sanctions checks, credit checks and fraud checks. Stage 2 - Can be completed 'Post-Start' These checks must be completed within 8 weeks of you commencing employment with us. The checks may include Criminal Record Checks, Company Verification, Employment and Academic referencing and verification of any career breaks that you may have undertaken.
